The Pepper Pestle designed by Nendo for the Pepper & Salt Project by Valerie Objects — A furniture, and home accessories manufacturer based in Belgium.

The top object forms a round glass container, which is used to fill with pepper and then sits on top of a base made from the same material. Pouring out the peppercorns from the container used as the “pestle” onto the top base which is used as the “mortar”,  starts the grounding process of the pepper manually.

The sides of the top object are easy to grip, increasing the strength used to grind the peppers. The underside of the container and the top surface of the base have ridges to make it easier for the pepper grinding process.
